I had the absolute pleasure of writing this song with Ashley Frith and Peter Mark Kendall on a dock by Lake Lucille. It is a song of craving to be kept, and in many ways feels like one of my most honest songs lyrically. This song used to feature a large portion where I’d wail alongside the viola. This is one of two songs on the album that was recorded live. We went through a few passes, when Jordan popped her head in and offered that I sing the song as if I was thinking it, and not saying it out loud. That led to Take 5, which we all called the “magic take”. I still have the note card Jordan wrote on after we did it, and got it framed to put on my wall.
